Welcome to Amaryllis Counselling & Psychotherapy

I'm Donna Chandler, a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Farndon, working with individuals and couples across Newark, Nottingham, Lincoln and surrounding areas.

I know that reaching out for support can feel like a big step. Whatever has brought you here - anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, anger or the impact of past experiences - you don't have to face it alone.

Together, we will create a calm, confidential space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening and feel genuinely heard without judgment.

Therapy sessions are available in person, by telephone, or online, so you can choose what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

Taking the first step is often the hardest part. If you have read this far, perhaps you are wondering whether we might work well together. If you would like to find out more or arrange an initial session, I would be pleased to hear from you.

Areas We Cover

How can therapy help?

Whatever has brought you here, counselling begins with a confidential, non-judgemental space where you are genuinely listened to. As your therapist, I won't tell you what to do or assume I know what’s best for you. Instead, we'll work at your pace to understand what's going on beneath the surface, and to find a way forward that feels right for you.

Over the past 16 years, I've worked with people experiencing many difficulties, often more than one at a time, because life rarely fits neatly into categories. Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand. Grief can bring feelings of anger, and relationship difficulties can affect every aspect of our emotional wellbeing.

If any of this resonates with you, I'd be glad to hear from you. Therapy sessions are available in person in Farndon, Newark, by telephone, or online - whatever feels most comfortable for you.

What happens next?

Taking the first step can feel daunting, particularly if you’ve never had counselling before. My aim is to make the process as straightforward and reassuring as possible.

Making contact

If you’d like to arrange an appointment or ask any questions before deciding, you’re welcome to get in touch by phone, email or through the contact form.

I’ll respond as soon as I can to discuss availability and answer any questions you may have.

Your first session

The first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll explore what has brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether it feels like the right fit for you.

Finding the right therapist is important. I encourage you to notice how you feel during our first meeting. Therapy works best when you feel able to be yourself, and it’s important that you feel comfortable with both me and the way I work. There is no expectation that you share everything straight away - we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable.

Ongoing therapy

Individual sessions last 50 minutes. Couples sessions are available as either 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your needs.

Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they would like support with, while others choose longer-term therapy to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns in their lives. We will regularly review how therapy is progressing and decide together what feels most helpful for you.

A collaborative process

Counselling isn’t about being given advice or being told what to do. Instead, it’s an opportunity to slow down, explore your experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself within a supportive therapeutic relationship.

My role is to listen with curiosity, compassion and honesty, helping you make sense of what’s really happening for you. Together, we’ll explore what feels important to you, with the aim of helping you move forwards in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
